What is Neurodiversity?
According to Harvard Health Publishing, neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one “right” way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits.
March 17-23 is Neurodiversity Celebration Week
Did you know that Lane County has a Neurodivergent Employee Resource Group (ERG) to help employees learn about neurodiversity, share resources, and find support?
The term neurodivergent is often associated with autism, though it encompasses a wide range of neurological and behavioral conditions including ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sensory processing disorders, dyslexia, and anxiety.
After receiving manager approval, employees are allowed up to 2 hours of paid time monthly to participate in an ERG. For additional information about Employee Resource Groups, click here on the HR Sharepoint site: Talent Management
