For Lawyers

Legal Professional Library Card

Legal professionals are able to borrow and lend material from the library and place holds on lending material. If you are interested in getting started, feel free to stop by the library or contact us at [email protected] to schedule a time to make a quick library card. Most physical materials have a two-week check-out period, titles that have "For Reference Only" are non-circulating material.

CLE Materials

The Law Library circulates Continuing Legal Education (CLE) materials and other printed matter to Oregon State Bar-licensed attorneys and Oregon-licensed private investigators. Contact library staff to request titles and arrange for pickup.

Up to two CLE course books + audio CD sets may be checked out at a time for a period of two weeks.

CLE FAQs

How Do I Report Library CLEs to the Bar?

You report CLEs to the bar through the MCLE Dashboard page on their website. In the MCLE Dashboard, they have an “Add Activity to My Transcript” tab to report the completion of a CLE activity. The forms in the front of our physical copy CLEs are for your own personal records. They also have a “MCLE Transcript” to see what you have done/reported.

Using the MCLE Program Database Search page, you can type in the “Event ID” that is listed on the library CLE in order to find the specific program and get credit for it. For example, our CLE Advanced Estate Planning 2024 has the ID 111813 (listed on that first form page of the book), which when searching the database will pull up the program.

The Event/Activity ID is not listed in our online catalog, so if you ever forget to copy it down while lending feel free to contact us and we can send it to you.

They also have an FAQ page and an email ([email protected]) for direct questions to the bar.

For the Physical CLEs, is there a way to listen to the CDs in the library?

Unfortunately, our computers are unable to be accessed by disk, so there is no way to listen to them physically at the library. If you do not have access to CD player equipment, the Eugene Public Library computers have CD audio listening capabilities, as well as headphones upon request if necessary.

The Lexis Digital Library will have mp3 audio, which can be listened to anywhere with internet connection, including at the library! If you need headphones, they are available upon request.

Can I Check-Out Books other than CLEs?

Yes! As long as it does not say "For Reference Only," you can check-out any physical material with a Legal Professional Library Card.

Just make sure to come up to the front desk and check-out the material. If there is no staffing at the time, there is a slip on top of the CLE shelf. Please fill that out and slip it through the glass.

Can I Place Holds on Physical Materials?

Please contact us at [email protected] to place a hold on a material.

What Else do you Offer at the Library?

Please check out the "About the Library" page for more information on the physical material and databases we offer.
