Local and Statewide Announcements

Parents as Paid Caregivers -
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) gave Oregon “emergency authorization” to allow parents/guardians of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to become paid Personal Support Workers and Direct Support Professionals for their child.

When the pandemic and current federal public health emergency declaration ends, we expect CMS to end this temporary exception.

Since the approval went into effect in January 2021, ODDS has heard your concerns and questions about why this emergency exception will expire in Oregon. We would like to invite you a webinar where we will explain the federal regulations and answer your questions. Here are the details:
  • Webinar: “Parents as Paid Caregivers”
  • Date: December 10, 2021
  • Time: 1:30–2:30 p.m.
  • Location: Online
