Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have modified procedures for services offered by our front counter, including processing Concealed Handgun License applications. CHL renewals and address changes will be processed via mail, using the instructions linked below. If you require additional assistance with your CHL renewal, please call our office. Appointments are required for all other services, including fingerprinting and new or transferring CHL applications. You can make an appointment for those services through the “BOOK AN APPOINTMENT” link below. We are requiring masks for all appointments. The door between the hallway lobby and the Sheriff's Office front counter will be closed. Please wait in the seating area and one of our staff will come out to get you at your scheduled appointment time.
We are working as efficiently as
possible to process both new and renewal CHL applications. Unfortunately, the
temporary front-counter closure and procedural changes that occurred as a
result of COVID-19 have caused a backlog that we are diligently working
through.
We are receiving many calls
asking for updates on the status of individual applications, which takes our
staff away from their work and causes additional delay. We will be updating the
below information each week to give our applicants a snapshot of what we are
working on. We appreciate your patience as we process your application!
New CHL applications:
currently processing backgrounds for appointments that occurred on: February 1, 2021
Renewal CHL applications on
non-expired licenses: currently processing CHLs expiring on: March 15, 2021
Renewal/Returning CHLs that
expired prior to receipt of application: currently processing the mail received on: February 25, 2021
Number of CHL applications being processed: 491
